F3 Performing endocrine focused physical examinations
Key Features:
- The focus of this EPA is the integration of the knowledge of endocrine anatomy and physiology and the pathophysiology and complications of endocrine diseases with physical examination skills to identify and recognize the significance of clinical findings.
- This EPA includes the assessment of one or more endocrine systems or diseases (e.g., pituitary, thyroid, diabetes, pubertal staging, etc.), as well as attention to patient comfort and privacy/draping during the physical exam.
- The observation of this EPA requires the supervisor to directly observe the performance of the physical examination of a patient not previously known to the resident.
