Internal Medicine — Program Information

Quality Improvement & Patient Safety

Quality Improvement (QI) & Patient Safety are essential skills in the modern practice of Internal Medicine. The QI curriculum is a longitudinal curriculum in which R4 residents go through a series of workshops paired with a longitudinal QI group project. Residents get lectures on topics such as:

  • Problem analysis tools
  • Quality indicators
  • Quality models for improvement
  • Time-series analysis of QI indicators
  • Change management
  • Incident reporting
  • Root cause analysis

Residents will have to meet project milestones throughout the year to make sure that their projects are progressing until completion. Projects will culminate in posters that will get presented in the annual KBIM day.
