The purpose of this rotation is to provide a core of clinical knowledge in neurology for internal medicine residents. Residents must be able to evaluate patients with neurological complaints through taking detailed history and performing neurological examination. They are expected to be able to localize a lesion and formulate differential diagnosis. By the end of the rotation, residents should have perfected their neurological bed-side skills. Also, they should gain a basic understanding of pathophysiology and natural history of common neurological lesions. Interpretation of neurological investigations including radiological, electrophysiological and lab tests is another goal of this rotation. Such aims are achieved through both decadic and bed-side teaching. Throughout the rotation, residents will be exposed to a variety of neurological conditions that are frequently seen by internists and learn about diseases more frequently seen by subspecialty neurologists.
