Tutors

Omar Emadi
Rotation Coordinator

In the intensive care unit (ICU), the resident will learn how to care for the sickest patients in the hospital. The goal of this rotation is to help the resident to identify critically ill patients and manage them in a systematic approach guided by evidence-based practice.

During ICU rotation, residents will take care of the critically ill patients who admitted to the ICU. Daily, the resident will interview patients, perform physical examinations, review laboratory and diagnostic studies and formulate a care plan and discuss it with the rounding consultant.

During on-calls, the resident will have a chance to evaluate patients presenting to emergency room or deteriorating patients in the wards who need ICU assessment. The resident will discuss with the consultant directly to formulate a management plan. Also, he/she will do procedures needed to manage the patient under supervision.
There are weekly teaching sessions covering important topics in critical care medicine.
Our critical care rotations let the resident experience multidisciplinary cooperation among different health professionals including nurses, dietitians, respiratory therapists, and clinical pharmacists.
