The Endocrine and Diabetes - Sabah Hospital rotation is a four weeks rotation that includes assigned outpatient clinics, inpatient consults and weekly teaching rounds. The Resident is welcome to present on their first day to Dr. Abdullah Alqanaei office located in second floor of Palliative care centre in Sabah Hospital at 8 am. They will receive an orientation to the department work schedule and rotation structure. The residents' expectations, concerns and goals will be addressed and a personalized rotation schedule & teaching plan will be set to achieve optimal benefit. The Resident will be assigned a separate clinic room to assess the patient independently. They are encouraged to formulate a full assessment and treatment plan before reviewing with assigned staff. Residents will also be assigned inpatient consults for general endocrine and diabetes cases; they will be involved in management and follow up of these cases during their rotation. Sabah Hospital covers a number of specialized centres and this provides an additional exposure of our residents to a variety of subspecialties such as neurosurgery and oncology. Thursdays will be allocated for teaching activities including journal clubs and cases review. The resident will be asked to present a topic of their interest the last Thursday of the rotation.
