In terms of performance, the RESPIRATORY rotation in Aljahra hospital seems to excel in providing a supportive and conducive learning environment, regarding teaching quality, teamwork, and the overall atmosphere.
Respiratory team in Al-Jahraa hospital is unique among all respiratory unit all over Kuwait as we are completely separate unit since 1-11-2013 during the morning and duty time with in-site on-call 2 registrars with on-phone senior second on-call and third on-call covering 24/7 covering all cases of respiratory emergencies admitted directly under our service either from emergency department or from OPD.
Our team is formed by 18 qualified doctors (one consultant (head of unit) – one senior specialist- 2 specialists – 4 senior registrars – 10 registrars).
During rotation in our unit the resident will have the opportunity and ability to the following:

A. Efficiently the resident will learn all topics of respiratory medicine and will be able to deal with respiratory emergencies.
B. Properly deal with all modalities of the NIV and HFNC with different interfaces for all respiratory cases presenting with different types of respiratory failures.
C. Learning and practicing efficiently the ultrasound of the pleural and chest with capability for ultrasound guided interventions and pigtail insertion.
D. Have the full chance to deal with the sleep disordered breathing diseases with its diagnostic procedures and interpretation for sleep study reports with management of home (BIPAP/CPAP) machines and troubleshooting.
E. The resident will be able to learn basics of bronchoscopy with possibility of hands-on training and practicing.
F. Have the full knowledge regarding the biological treatment for BA in our special day care unit designed especially for preparation and administration for all available biological treatment for bronchial asthma.
G. The resident will be qualified for knowledge of pulmonary physiology and interpretation of pulmonary function tests and ABG.
H. Excellent learning and interpretation for chest radiology.

In the recent future we are about to establish the following interventions and procedures:
1. Cardio.pulmonary exercise testing
2. Endo-bronchial ultrasound E-BUS.
3. Pulmonary rehabilitation service.
