My name is Dr. Fatma Huraish, and I am a Senior Consultant in Pulmonology, Allergy, and Clinical Immunology. I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Kuwait University and completed the Kuwait Board in Internal Medicine. I then pursued advanced training in Respirology at the University of British Columbia and in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at McGill University, where I also completed a research fellowship at the Meakins & Christie Laboratories, focusing on severe asthma and immunological pathways.
I currently serve as the Head of the Pulmonary Unit at Sabah Hospital, and I am actively involved in teaching as a tutor for medical students in Kuwait. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I led the national clinical response at Al-Sabah and Al-Razi Hospitals and contributed to major research projects, including a landmark saliva-based diagnostic study published in the Journal of Clinical Virology. I also chair the Scientific Committee at Sabah Hospital and lead its academic and research activities.
In addition, I have organized three regional Middle East Asthma & COPD Conferences, bringing together experts and advancing respiratory medicine in the region. I also led the organization of the First Sabah Hospital Scientific Conference, which included multiple specialties and workshops, supporting continuous medical education across the institution.
I am also a member of Kuwait’s National Committee for Climate Change, where I contribute to national efforts examining the impact of climate and environmental factors on respiratory health.
