Dr Anbar graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Kuwait University, and then moved to Canada where she completed her Internal Medicine residency at Queens University. She followed this with a Rheumatology fellowship, as well as an additional clinical fellowship in Spondylitis at the University of Toronto.

She is the chairperson of Kuwait Association of Rheumatologists (KAR) media committee, and is Kuwait's representative for Arab League Against Rheumatism (ArLAR) media committee. She is also Kuwait's Young Rheumatologist ambassador for Asia-Pacific League Against Rheumatism (APLAR).

She has a special interest in medical education, has won several teaching excellence awards and is the KBIM site coordinator for Jaber Hospital.
