Dr. Abdulrahman Almahmeed is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital, Kuwait. He is the Program Director of the Adult Endocrinology & Metabolism Fellowship Program at the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specializations (KIMS), a Clinical Tutor and Endocrine Rotation Coordinator at the Faculty of Medicine, Kuwait University, and a Clinical Tutor for the Kuwaiti Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Almahmeed received his medical degree from Kuwait University and completed his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine through the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specializations, obtaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom (MRCP UK) and the Kuwaiti Board of Internal Medicine (KBIM). He subsequently completed advanced fellowship training in Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus through the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) at St. James’s Hospital and Tallaght University Hospital in Dublin, Ireland. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP).
Dr. Almahmeed has a strong interest in postgraduate medical education, competency-based training, curriculum development, and healthcare leadership. He has led the development of the Adult Endocrinology & Metabolism Fellowship Program in Kuwait, including curriculum design, competency mapping, assessment frameworks, mentorship initiatives, and trainee wellness programs. He also serves on the Ministry of Health Internal Medicine Ministerial Inspection and Audit Committee.
His clinical and academic interests include diabetes technology, obesity medicine, thyroid disorders, pituitary and adrenal diseases, osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease, medical education, quality improvement, and endocrine fellowship training. He has participated in numerous regional and international scientific meetings and educational activities and is actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
